How do I contact Dr. McHugh?

Do I need a referral?
No referral is required—clients are welcome to contact Dr. McHugh directly. However, some insurance providers require a physician’s referral for reimbursement, so it is advisable to check your plan.
What are the fees?
The fee for a standard 60-minute session is $200. Payment is due at the end of each session. Dr. McHugh accepts cash, cheque, credit card, or e-transfer, and a receipt will be provided for your records.
Do you bill insurance directly?
Dr. McHugh does not bill insurance companies directly. Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for psychological services, and receipts can be submitted for reimbursement.
Are psychological services covered by OHIP?
Psychological services are not covered by OHIP. Many individuals have partial or full coverage through workplace or private insurance plans. It is recommended that you check with your provider to confirm your level of coverage. Fees not covered by insurance may be claimed as a medical expense on your income tax.
What is your cancellation policy?
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at the full session fee.
Do you offer virtual or phone sessions?
Yes, both virtual and telephone sessions are available. Video sessions are conducted through a secure and easy-to-use platform.
Is free parking available?
Yes, free parking is available behind the office, as well as on nearby streets.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
The initial session is an opportunity to discuss what is bringing you in and to begin identifying goals for therapy. Dr. McHugh will ask questions to better understand your concerns and, if needed, help prioritize them.
She will also review her approach to therapy and practical aspects of the process so you can determine whether her services are a good fit for your needs. If you decide to proceed, goals will be established collaboratively and a general plan for therapy will be outlined. Questions are welcome at any time.
