About

I am registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in the areas of clinical/counseling, school, health and rehabilitation psychology. I have been in practice for over 30 years and am qualified to provide treatment and consultation to older adolescents, adults and the elderly. I also provide psycho-educational assessments to children over six years old.

Professional training and experience:

I have experience working in rehabilitation, psychiatry, and palliative care hospital units. I also have been a school board psychologist for over 15 years, and I have maintained a part-time private practice since 1993. I continue to update my knowledge and skills through ongoing professional training and consultation.

Private Practice:

I provide individual, short-term psychotherapy in my office which is centrally located in downtown Kitchener. I also provide psycho-educational assessments to children over six years of age to identify difficulties that may be affecting academic or personal functioning. As a psychologist I am qualified to make a diagnosis, such as a learning disability, processing problem, mood-related disorder, and/or ADHD. The assessment will also explain the impact of any identified deficits, and make recommendations to reduce this impact on the child’s life. Students with a psychological assessment report may be provided with accommodations or modifications at school (both public and post-secondary) to assist them to meet their full potential.

In order to provide therapy that is tailored to the individual and responsive to their specific needs, I employ a number of theoretical models in my practice. These models or therapeutic orientations include cognitive behavioral, mindfulness/acceptance-based, and short-term solution-focused psychotherapy. My preference is to employ a strength-based philosophy while I help clients to improve their mood, level of functioning, and balance in all areas of their life. Please note that I do not provide couple or family therapy.
